The Arrival - reviewed by the Thought Balloonists
A new comic criticism blog started up this week, called Thought Balloonists. Every Tuesday Craig Fischer and Charles Hatfield (who between them have written for the Comics Journal and the International Comic Art Forum, among others) both review the same comic in a call-and-response kind of way.Their first pick for comics to review is none other than Shaun Tan's The Arrival, which seems to have hit the US in the last month or so, judging from its presence in the current US comic blogosphere.
Fischer and Hatfield's reviews are long, detailed and thoughtful, which is a nice change from a lot of the stuff that passes for comics journalism online.
